100 Savar victims’ families get money help.-news in bd

The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, Thursday handed over cheques of financial assistance to the families of 100 garment workers who died in the building collapse in Savar April 24.

Earlier, the prime minister distributed cheques of financial assistance among 116 family members of 100 victims in the first phase at her office.Briefing reporters, PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said that each family of the victims got Tk 200,000.Hasina said that her government would continue its efforts to support the families of the Savar building collapse victims. She said the day’s assistance was preliminary and more support including housing facilities would be given to the victims’ families in future to help them stand on their own feet. ‘I’ve no word to console the bereaved families. But we’ll continue our efforts to help them so they don’t have to face economic hardship after losing their earning family members,’ Hasina said.
